Richmond urged to help find family’s murderers

Crime scene, police tape
Surviving members of the Richmond family whose four members were assassinated during the weekend are still traumatised by the incident.
On Saturday evening, four family members, Cecilia Chiliza, Dumisani Chiliza, Nkosikhona Masango, Noxolo Dawood and a four year old, whose name has not been revealed, were gunned down in Ndaleni, Richmond.
The four-year-old boy is still in hospital, recovering from a gunshot wound to his buttocks.
Family member Quinton Dawood said he was in Pietermaritzburg at the Harry Gwala Stadium watching a soccer match when he received a call from neighbours, urging him to abandon the game and come home.
He said his family had been busy preparing for a small ceremony when the tragedy occurred.
A mass family funeral will be held on Saturday at the local sports ground.
Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said no arrests have been made as yet but confirmed that police are working on a strong lead.
KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda, visited the family and urged the community to help the police bring the culprits to task.
