Families that were affected by the heavy rains in the Ugu
district on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast, have called on the
government to provide them with temporary shelters.
Nearly 30 homes were destroyed by heavy rains and strong
winds that ripped off the roofs of homes during the past weekend.
Chairperson of the Infrastructure in the Umdoni Municipal
Council, Bonginkosi Mngadi says they have evacuated a
number of people.
He says they are working together with
emergency teams to provide the residents with basic
assistance.
