One dies in Pietermaritzburg crash

A man has been killed in a car accident. (ER24)
One person was killed and four others including a child were injured on Saturday when a vehicle overturned several times
on the R103 Lion Park, in Pietermaritzburg.
Paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene shortly after 4pm where they found the vehicle several meters into an open veld.
All occupants were ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, with a man found near the wreckage with fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
Two other men and a woman were found with moderate injuries a few meters away from the vehicle.
They were treated and stabilised on the scene before they were transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg and Northdale Hospital.
A child believed to be two years old was found approximately 20 meters away from the vehicle.
A bystander explained that she heard the child crying in the veld shortly after they stopped to see the incident.
The bystander cared for the child until paramedics arrived and took over treatment.

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known but local authorities attended the scene and will investigate further.
