IN an effort to
improve matric results, Gr8 Impact Lifestyle, a community based organisation has partnered with six Imbali schools and will run an outreach extra lessons
programme to assist pupils.
Gr8 Impact
Lifestyle’s project co-ordinator, Sandile Shange, said they decided to partner
with the Imbali Alumni Association, which had already started initiating these
extra lessons from last year.
Shange said they got involved after recognising
that this programme will improve pupils’ marks and help them understand their
subjects better.
He said they did not want to re-invent
the wheel, but support successful projects by partnering with the association
that already provides support.
Shange said they have professionals who
will teach pupils, while also providing career guidance and helping prepare
them for the tertiary education environment.
Founder of Gr8 Impact Lifestyle,
Thobekile Ndlovu, said this project is their way of giving back to the
community and opening a platform for leaders to emerge.
Ndlovu said they felt there was a gap in
the education system, especially in township schools where not enough career
guidance is offered.
She said the lessons will be adding on
what the schools are doing.
