Sixty-nine people were injured on Wednesday morning, when
a tractor and trailer overturned on the D408, in Pietermaritzburg.
Several of the injured were found lying
near the trailer, while some were standing around on scene.
On closer inspection, five people were
found to have sustained moderate injuries, while 64 sustained minor injuries,
which include scrapes and bruises.
The occupants were assessed and treated
on the scene, and were later transported to a nearby hospital, for further
medical care.
No serious or fatal injuries were
reported on the scene.
Although exact circumstances
surrounding the incident are not yet known, it is understood that the driver of
the tractor lost control of the vehicle, while they were on their way to a
local farm.
Local authorities will investigate
further.
