A shocking video of an alleged taxi driver hitting a woman in a taxi at one of Durban's CBD ranks has emerged online.
In the video, which was posted on Facebook, the taxi driver is seen talking to the woman who is inside the taxi and then slaps her.
It seems as though she tries to escape, but he pulls her by her clothes, pushes her back inside the taxi, and continues to hit her.
The camera then moves to where sight of the taxi driver and the woman is lost, but seconds later, the slamming sound of a taxi door is heard.
A witness has said there is never an excuse for violence and that abuse against women should not be tolerated in this country or anywhere in the world.
