Firefighters are resolute in their complaints that all their equipment is either in poor condition or not working at all, even though district management has denied this.
It was reported recently about Msunduzi’s fire services being in a disaster but the city refuted those claims and said everything was in working order.
Following that, firefighters working in the uMgungundlovu District Municipality have also complained that they were left in a similar position with broken equipment, lack of staff and a cover-up story from their superiors.

Umgungundlovu District municipality spokesperson Mbali Ndlovu said the municipality has 8 pumpers and that they were all operational.

Denying Ndlovu’s claims, long-serving firefighters in the district said they were still facing a massive problem and  added that they had only one working fire engine, meant to serve more than 1,1 million people.
