THREE men are expected to appear in court in Howick
today in connection with the murders of Christine and Roger Solik of The Bend
estate in Nottingham Road.
This follows intense investigations by the Nottingham
Road police and the Combined Action Team that led to what could be the final
arrests for the murders of the couple.
The three men, aged between 31 and 42, were arrested
during a gruelling 15hour operation in Mlazi and Impendle.
After receiving information that a suspect was there, Nottingham
Road investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Sikhumbuzo Mdunge led
the team to Umlazi C section where one arrest was made.
Captain Reno Dayaram from CAT said the arrested suspect
was extremely cooperative and told them that the remaining two suspects were
at their homes in Impendle where they were later arrested.
Provincial police spokesperson LieutenantColonel Thulani
Zwane said one of the recovered firearms was reported stolen in Orlando,
Gauteng.
The KwaZuluNatal acting provincial commissioner MajorGeneral Bheki Langa welcomed the arrests and applauded the officers for
their perseverance.
