Reacting to a video of a fight involving a Carter High School pupil in Pietermaritzburg and two women who claimed to be parents of pupils, the Department of Education said two wrongs do not make a right.
In the video doing the rounds on social media, two women who claimed to be parents confront the pupil about allegedly bullying their children on the school premises.

Shortly thereafter, the women are seen slapping the pupil while she retaliates by hitting one multiple times in the face and grabbing the other, throwing her over a bench.
Other pupils then intervened, attempting to break up the fight.
Department of Education spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi said the department was upset over the incident.
Mahlambi said regardless of whether their child was bullied or not, it does not give them the right to go into the school premises and assault any pupil.

Mhlambi said the department encourages pupils who are bullied to report incidents to their school and parents.
A Carter High School spokesperson said the adults who were involved in the incident were not parents of any pupils at the school.

Police spokesperson Mthokozise Ngobese said they were aware of the school’s intention to open a case of assault against the two, however, no case had been opened.
